THE OTAKI ENQUIRY.

SCHEME SUBMITTED.

The inquiry into matters concerning the Otald borough was on Tuesday taken in committee. Mr Atmore, counsel for the Borough Council, submitted a scheme of classification which, was formally discussed. Mr Atmore also pointed out that the scheme in no way committed the Council till it had had an opportunity of testing it, and investigating its merits generally. The Commissioners are likely to remain in Otaki till Saturday, during which time they will view properties. Further evidence will be taken in Wellington on Tuesday. It is understood that the evidence already taken runs into no less than 160 pages.
