WEEK-END ACCIDENTS.
HOCKEY PLAYER’S LEG BROKEN CHHISTCHURCH, Last Night. Five accidents in which people were injured were reported to' the police over the week-end. As the result of coming into collision with a motor-car at Eiccarton this morning a cyclist, Oswald Bcnjamen Islip, aged 14, is in hospital with head and leg injuries and suffering from shock. His condition is reported verj serious. Three other cyclists were injured, none severely, by being struck by mo-tor-cars. Playing in a senior hockey match on Saturday H. Hale sustained a broken log. THREE INJURED NEAR GISBORNE IN SMASH GISBORNE, Last Night. As the result of a collision between two cars at Patutaha on Saturday evening one car driven by Francis Parker, a lorry driver, containing his wile and three children went head lirst into a wide drain, and fell on its side, the occupants being thrown out. Mrs. Parker sustained broken ribs and chest and body bruises. Doris Parker, aged II years, had her wrist broken and suffered abrasions. Jack Parker, aged 8 years, was cut about the legs. All three were removed ’.to the Cook Hospital, but none of their injuries is believed serious. Parker also suffered bruisss. The occupants of the other car were unhurt. UNKNOWN MAN’S BODY FOUND IN WELLINGTON HARBOUR. ' WELLINGTON,’ Last Night. The body of an unknown man was pulled out of the harbour this afternoon at one o’clock-. It is believed to have fallen off the wharf last night. INVERCARGILL ALSO HAS UNUSUAL WEEKEND TOLL INVERCARGILL, Last Night. Four men were admitted to the Southland hospital on Saturday night as the result of notor accidents. Albert Taylor and Michael Ross, who were knocked by taxis, the former suffering from head injuries and Ross from facial abras ons ana flight concussion, are progressing favourably, as is Leslie Stevens who sustained slight concussion and cuts about the scalp through being knocked down by a car. Henry Rillstoa was admitted suffering from a fractured log and a cut across Lie forehead, but his condition is not serious. Ho is said to have been riding a motor cycle which collided with a car.
