Received Wednesday, 8 p.m. LONDON, April 23. The Bourse is pleased with the French elections. Government stock rose sharply. The real mind of France, however, will not he revealed till Sunday. Nevertheless M. Poincare’s mandate to stabilise the franc is likely to be renewed. The Communist vote is heavy numbering 115,000. The '‘Times” Paris correspondent says that second ballots are necessary in 430 constituencies' largely due to the numerous candidates also to split votes.

On the first ballot for the Chamber of Deputies, 175 candidates have been elected, of whom Democratic Rcpublicans number 72; Loft Republicans, 41; Radical Republicans 15; Radical Socialists, 16; Republican Socialists, 4; Socialists, 14; Conservatives, 13. No Communists wore elected. The second ballots for the remaining 427 seats take place next Sunday. The majority of the successful candidates declared themselves supporters of the Government’s policy.

After the last general election on May 11, 1924, M. Poincare being then in power, the state of the many parties, according to the Minister of the Interior, M. Sarraut, was as follows: Conservatives, 20; Republican Entente, 117; and Republicans, 130 (group of Centre Right); Radicals and Radical Socialists, 139; Republican Socialists. 36; Socialists proper, 102; Communists, 29. The lialance of the 597 seats went to Independent deputies.
