STRANGE MOTOR TRAGEDY

BEE CAUSES TWO DEATHS

How a bee caused a motor car to plunge into a lake at Lawton Hill, Cheshire, with the result that two lives were lost, was dramatically related at the inquest on Mrs. Edith Lyon and Arthur Herbert Thompson. The driver, Mr. Lyon, husband of the dead woman,' explained that as they were approaching Lawton Hill a bee entered the car, and flew near him. ; To Mr; Thompson, who was sitting by his side, he remarked, '' Mind the bee.'' While witness'« hand was off the steering wheel the car lurched sideways and crashed headlong into the water. Witness added that the water was up to his neeK. Mr. Thompson climbed into the rear of the saloon to the assistance of the women, but witness said he managed to get on the top of the car, and was able to drag Mrs. Thompson through the window. He failed, however, to get bis wife and his other companion. A man who was fishing in the lake raised the alarm after hearing the crash, and when the police arrived they had to cut the back of the car away to extricate the victims.
