General Gcrardo Machano, President «nf Cuba, has signed a Bill restricting the output of Cuban sugar, making it Saw. The Bill, was passed earlier in the, day by the Senate. Powers are •conferred oil the President to include authority unconditionally, to retire 150,000 tons of ,-the 1926-27 crop from the market. Experts estimate that if the powers conferred by the Bill are exercised, the price of sugar in the United States will be increased half a cent, a pound. The Bill creates a State-con-trolled export company and provides heavy tariffs for sugar produced in excess of the amounts allotted to the mills. The scheme is on the same principle as the British Rubber Restriction Bill.
