OPOSSUM KILLING WITHOUT A LICENSE.
At the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., on the information of Percy William Willson, ranger for the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, John Alfred Reid was charged with having taken or killed opossums without a license. He pleaded guilty.
Mr Wilson stated that six skins had been found drying when defendant was called on.
A fine of £3 whs imposed, with costs £1 ss.
George Thomas Wilkinson Was then similarly charged. “This is not a bad case,’’ stated Mr Willson. Defendant, he proceeded, had bought traps, but had not got far \frith his trapping as they had been stolen the morning after they had been put out.
His Worship imposed a fine of £l, with costs £1 ss.
