PALMERSTON N., Oct. 2

With a total indebtedness to secured and unsecured creditors of £1646 IBs, and' assets totalling £721 18s Bd, Mrs Mary Hemingsley Newman, trading in Levin as the Newman Transport Company, has filed a petition in bankruptcy. Secured creditors are owed £377 Is 6*d, securities being estimated at £470, while the amount owing to unsecured creditors is £1260 11s 6d. The deficiency amounts to £924 14s 4d. Among the assets are listed a motor lorry valued at £350, book debts of £179 Os 2d., and property valued at £l2O. There are, in all, 21 unsecured creditors, these being in Wellington, ! Levin, and Palmerston North, while there are only two secured, creditors, one being a firm in Levin and the other a Wellington organisation. A meeting of creditors will be held at Palmerston on Thursday.
