FIVE DAYS AS A WEEK.

{-By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright.) (Received This Day,. 11.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, Oct. 3rd. The 47th Convention of the American Federation of Labour has opened, under the presidency of Mr Green, at Los Angeles. The outstanding interest cis contained in the report of the executive council, which advocates a return to beer, and the introduction of five'five-day week. In three conventions Labour has pointed out the deplorable conditions which have come from the enforcement ,of the Volstead Act. “We contended that 2,7s'per cent, 'beer would bring about true temperance,” says the executive, which declares that conditions are steadily growing worse, and that wholesome beer could be introduced without interfering with the Eighteenth Amendment.
