KING’S COPYRIGHT.

DISPLAY OF LETTER TO FRIEND.

LONDON, Sept. 16

Since the announcement that a letter written by King George when a young man of 24 to a Mrs Williams was being exhibited in a Piccadilly shop and priced 30 guineas, a controversy has arisen as to whether the displaying of the* letter is the publication of a document of which His Majesty holds the copyright.

The latter is an innocuous communication to Mrs Wjilliams, apparently then a friend of the King. She seemed to have shared with him an interest in stamp collecting. The identity of Mrs Williams is unknown.
