PROTECTING THE PAINTWORK

In order to preserve the front wings and scuttle dash from accidental injury while decarbonising or carrying out a similar job. it is advisable to obtain three large cloths and cut some rubber bands from an old inner tube. The cloths must be fairly large, old sheets or tablecloths serve admirably, and they should be draped over each of the front wings and secured in place by slipping the bands over the head or wing lamps, the fronts of the guards, or any other advantageous points. The third cloth should be laid across the dash and secured by tying down the ends to the running board supports or side lamps.
