A serious riot occurred at the Far Eastern games, while a football match was in progress between China and the Philippines. The largest crowd in the history of local football assembled, and the Chinese heckled the visitors, the early stages of the' game being marked by several brawls. Finally a free fight started -among all the players in the centre of -the field.
The crowd stormed the players and attacked the Filipinos with bottles and knives, several being injured and one Filipino* stabbed seriously. The police finally cleared the ground with bayonets, and the game concluded with the police guarding the boundaries. China won.
