On awicket affected the heavy •dew, the ball kicked and four New .'Zealanders disappeared for 21. Blunt, MeGirr and Merritt improved matters, McGirr hitting seven fours. Hobbs was caught fourth ball, but Sandham and Ducat put on a hundred. 'Owing to the good bowling of Merritt the score was! only 8 for 207, and it looked like certain victory for New Zealand, but Barling and McGaulis played doggedly and the match was •drawn'.
