COMPULSORY SICKNESS INSURANCE
CONVENTIONS BEFORE GENEVA CONFERENCE. ADOPTION PROBABLE. (Received Tuesday, 9 p.m.) GENEVA, June 14, The Labour Conference is likely to adopt two important conventions; one relates to compulsory sickness insurance for workers in industry and commerce, outworkers, and domestic servants; the other relates to agricultural workers. Employers have notified they will abstain from voting on the draft conventions while the workers' group considering them far from satisfactory will vote for them. Mention was frequently made in debates to the work of the Australian, Royal Commission and an opinion was expressed that if the conventions are adopted they will be valuable in any action contemplated by the Australian Government.
Discussion at th c Plenary Sessions indicate a general desire for a unrvorsal scheme of sickness insurance.
