DAMAGES AWARDED FOR LIBEL
CASE AGAINST SYDNEY DAILY TELEGRAPH. (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. The libel action in which Sir Thomas Henley, member of the Legislative Assembly, claimed £SOOO from the Daily Telegraph Newspaper Company, ond«d in a verdict for £3OO. Sir Thomas < laimod that the newspaper, ir. an ailicle, accused him of using his official position as a member of the Water Board to fight Australian industries and workers. He also claimed that a second article, discussing the absence of five Nationalist members from a certain division in the Assembly, referred to him, among others, as a “shirker.” A stay of proceedings was granted.
