WAVE OF SELF-DESTRUCTION.
ALARMING FIGURES FROM ARGENTINE. SALE OF POISON PROHIBITED. <By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright.) BUENOS AIRES, March 16. Because the deaths from the sricide •wave now total 350 for the past five months*, the police have banned the -sale of the particular poison v/uich the great majority used. The sale has been prohibited for two weeks in an effort to check the mania for selfr destruction, after which period it will Ise subjected to regulation. A cable last month said a wave of suicides was sweeping Argentina. Fifteen died of poison in one day, and over 300 poisoned themselves in tho /past four months. Of these cases 200 iwere in Buenos Aires. The same poison was used in every case* All the cases date back to a murder, at which it was brought out that the victim died .oi this poison. Much publicity was given at the trial, and sensational newspapers even described hew the poison wa3 administered, and what -were the symptoms. Those who committed suicide consist of all ages and all classes, and the acts were committed in parks, streets, cafes and at home.
