SWIMMING BATHS FOR OTAKI.
» | At last meeting of the Otalu Borough Council .the Mayor stated that Mr. D. J. Reardon, who was present at the meeting, was an enthusiastic i bather, and felt certain that he would Ibe only too pleased to give information on the establishment of baths. Shanjnon, and other places, he pointed out, jhad baths. The Council, he considered, would lose nothing by hearing Mr. i Reardon's views on the matter. j Mr. Reardon stated that he was ■ pleased to see the Mayor so interested. There were, he said, six baths in "Wanganui, which town held the Dominion record for the teaching of children to swim. He would be only too pleased to do his best in the matter, and if it was desired he would call a public meeting. He felt sure the support of the Council, School Committees, and Chamber of Commerce, would be forthcoming. ; The Mayor intimated that he would be only too pleased to call a meeting to ■ discuss the matter.
It has now been decided, to hold a meeting at the Lyric theatre on Wednesday" night at 7.30, when school committees, members of the Borough Council, Chamber of Commerce, and others are asked to be present, Mr. Reardon will place information of'a reliable character before the meeting, give estimates, etc., and point out how baths have been erected in townships much smaller than Otaki.
