OTAKI'S SPOTTING WEEK.

LAEEIKINISM CAUSES DEFICIT. A meeting of the business men of Otaki was held at the Lyric theatre on Friday night, Mr. H. J. Wyatt presiding. The secretary (Mr. E. S. Morse) reported a deficiency of about £ls in regard to the recent spotting week, more than half of which was caused by larrikins stealing or destroying flags. After discussion it was decided to make a lew of 15s on each business man to defray the amount owing, while votes of thanks were accorded all helpers, other than retailers, also Mr. Morse (secretary) and the executive for • work done. ■ -Very strong Temarks were made regarding larrikins and the loss sustained by their actions, their acts being looked upon as anything but a credit to the town. _____
