WERAROA POST OFFICE

RESIDENTS OBJECT TO CHANGE IN STATUS. Objection is taken by the residents of Weraroa to the change in the status of the Post Office there. The strongest resentment is being expressed against any attempt to reduce the efficiency and privileges which a permanent officer and staff have rendered at Weraroa for twenty years past. These views were lepresanted to the Postmaster at Levin. by a deputation consisting of Messrs F. G Roe, W. Wat kins, E. Allmand, J. Young and C. H. Martin. As representing the residents of Weraroa and outlyirg district, the deputation protested against the proposed changes in the staffing of the office. Further steps are now being taken in the ci-culation. of a netition drawing attention to the growth of the district and emphasising that an injustice would be caused by any change of administration to Levin. The petition is being extensively signed, and is to be presented to the Post-master-General at an early date.
