National attention continues to he focussed on the throe thousand death? from. Government-poisoned denatured alcohol during the recent holiday season. Mr Mellon, Secretary of State, ha? urged the Government to use all possible speed to remove the poison ingredients from the present supplies of liquor. The American Chemical Society has requested its fifteen thousand members to make suggestions for a new nanpoisonous denaturant. General Andrews, chief of the Prohibition enforcement force, says it is safe to assume that most of these holiday deaths were caused- from officially poisoned denatu\ed alcohol from which bootleggers thought ‘ they had removed the poison, but had failed.
