LIBERATOR OF CHINA.
RUSSIA’S NEW ROLE. _ GALLS FOR GREAT CHINESE , *. * - : ■ ARMY. \ ' {By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright.) (Received This Day, 8 55 a.nfl) LONDON, January 4. The Times’ Riga correspondent says the Soviet, declaring that the Chinese revolution is not yet half accomplished, urges the creation of a. mighTy national army capable of crushing Chang-tso-lin and his Imperialist allies. It.is endeavouring to create the belief that the British memorandum is a preliminary stop to the Powers’ intervention for the purpose of imposing on China a~plan resembling the Dawes scheme, whereby China will be re-enthralled-BLOODSHED INEVITABLE. “EXTREMISTS FORCING THE ISSUE SEETHING HATRED OF BRITAIN. {By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright.) Received this day, 11.5 a.m. SHANGHAI, January 4., . Strong evidence is in the hands of -the local authorities that Kuomintung •extremists, fearing that the Conservative element in China favours a friendly attitude to Britain as the result of Sir Miles Lampson’s visit to Hankow and the British ’memorandum, are deliberately forcing the issue with Britain on the counsel of their Russian advisors, who see the Soviet influence slipping unless Britain is driven to cause an incident by firing on an unarmed Chinese mob. The Hankow events are the forerunners of others of a worse nature. It is believed bloodshed eventually is unavoidable and the climax is generally regarded as being near. A long succession of anti-British outbreaks is expected and the Yang-tszo Valley will become a holocaust, should Britain be forced to retaliate there by the increasingly hostile demonstrations. The Valley is now seething with hatred of Britain. Anti-foreign feeling is almost solely confined to Britain, Japan and America. The : other Powers are being temporarily overlooked, proving conclusively that Soviet influence is at work.
