GIFTS TO CUSTOMERS. London is not the only centre in the Empire that can boast of records for Christmas shopping. On Saturday Dimmer's Cash Stores established one for Levin. The cash registers showedthat 1081 customers had been served, which is 220 in excels of the number supplied on the corresponding day. last year. The recording tapes on the registers measured 23ft 4in. The great attraction on Satin day was a gift to every hundredth customer, and the fallowing is the list of awmrds and the time at which each pne w r as claimed:— lOOtii, 10.45 a.m. —Box of chocolates, Mrs Summers, Gladstone Road. 200th, 12.30 p.m. —61b tin jam, Mrs D, Smart, Victoria Street. 300th, 2.15 p.m. —Aluminium Mixing Bowl, Mrs Jacob, Poroutawhao. 400th, 3.30 p.m. —Caddy of tea, Mr Tin ton, Ihakara. 500th, 4.15 p.m.—Water jug and six tumblers, Mrs T. Johnston, Stuckey St. COOth, 5 p.m. —Glass salad bowl, Mr Joll, Cambridge Street. 700th, 0.0 p.m.—Covered glass salad bowl, Mrs Fletcher, Bruce Road. SOOth, 7 p.in.—Trifle dish, Mrs Harris, Mako Mako Road. 900th, 7.40 p.m.—Floating bowl and bird, Mrs Poad, Weraroa road. 1000th, 8.20 p.m. —Ham, Mrs Graham, W eraroa. A glance through this list at the time each prize w r as claimed w r ill afford some idea of the efficient organisation at Dimmer's. During the busy part of the day 100 customers were being attended to every 45 minutes. The comprehensive stocks carried do not permit of a shortage and Dimmer's expect a busy time right up till closing time on Christmas Eve.*
