ELECTRIC CABLE STOLEN
TWO YOUNG MEN CONVICTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) V/ELLINGTON, Dte; 17. Three .-barges of theft of electric cable to ih? total value of £25 11s bd, 1 e-longing to the City Concil, were preferred against John Paton Hardy, compositor, aged 22, and, Leonard Emile Shiinack, licensed carrier, aged 24. The latter was also charged Avith having received goods knowing them to have been dishonestly obtained. Hardy pleaded guilty and Shirnack not guilty. Arter evidence was heard both avus convicted, Hardy of the thefts as the master mind, and the other because of his gailty knoAvledge of the offence. Hardy was sentenced to two years" retormuti. e treat ment, and Shirnack avus adniii.ted to two years' probation, and m acred to pay costs ana make rest it ui, .i to the extent of £4 18s.
