PRINCE OF WALES VISITS SLUMS
DESCRIBES CONDITIONS AS “DISGRACEFUL.” (Received Thursday, 7.40 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. lib The Prince of Wales visited the North London district of Somerstown, where an area of slum property is being replaced by flats. He inspected one small house in which five families were living, saying that it was disgraceful that people should have lo live in these conditions. After that the Prinee visited the Magdalen College Mission nearby, and greeted the. charwomen, costermongers’ wives, Scouts and Girl Guides, and joining in singing camp songs. A woman said: “It is a pity there is no mistletoe. The , Prince laughingly replied: “Yes, isn’t it ?”
