ft PICKED UP BY AMATEUR. (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) WASHINGTON, August 16. The Macmillan Expedition has established a provision depot at the head of Flagler Fjord. Ellesmere Island, midway between the bases at Btah and Cape Hubbard, according to. a message relayed here by a Cedar Rapids (Iowa) radio amateur, who said he picked up voices from Bowdowin on a fifteen-metre wave length. After he had snccussfully completed a voice test said to be the first made bv an amateur on a sim-i lar wave length and distance he took a code message. Two of the expedition’s three seaplanes are now-avail-able, NA2. being on the top deck of the Peary, after being damaged by heavy seas. It is doubtful whether it will be used again.
