TIKORANGI STUD DISPERSAL.

details OF sales.. 1 The dispersal sale of the well-known (“Tikorangi’’ stud Fnesians, the pro--1 perty u; the late Mr W. Bevan, was jheJu on the property yesterday, when I D2 lots were offered and sold at an average .price of 31 guineas. Unfortunately" no testing had been done in the herd, and although some of the best blood in the Dominion was included in the offerings, this .militated against sales to a certain extent, the fact that calving dates were not avaffI able being also a disadvantage. Many of the older cows were somewhat out |of condition and being of the old I Dutch type which has been superseded in toe favour of breeders by the I lighter American animal, brought down the average of sales considerably. The younger animals which showed considerable quality and type were keenly contested for and very satisfactory prices ruled. The big interest of the sale centred in the sale of. the bull, Netherland pletertje of Bainfleld, purchased by Mr Bevan shortly before his death "Irom the famous Bainfleld stud of Mr W. D. Hunt, for the sum of 635 guineas. Bidding started at 200 guineas and quickly ran. up to 500 guineas* Uie bull being eventually purchased by Mr B. J. Hodgson, of North Wairoa, for 530 guineas. The cow, Bainfleld 16th, purchased by Mr Bevan at the same time, and which 'unfortunately was not in calf, realised 200 guineas, being purchased by Mr G. ,Scoon of Otaki.

The attendance of buyers was large, including, besides practically every breeder of consequence in the Manawatu, visitors from North Auckland, Waikato, Hawkes Bay and the South Island. Mr C. E. Robertson, manager of the stud stock department of Messrs

\Vright,. Stephenson and Co., was present as sales- manager. Messrs J. C. Broad, of Masterton, and C. V. Day being auctioneers. A very pleasing feature of the sale was the splendid stile arrangements which had been made,; and which were under the control of Mr R. ; V. Brown.
