ELECTORS SHOULD ENROL

i’reiiiniuury work hi connection with the compilation o! lire new borough roll, in preparation lor the coming Mayoral election, has been practically completed. The main roll, which is now closed, contains Hie names ol 1200 electors, and comes into operation on April I. A supplementary roll will be prepared lor the convenience ol those not already enrolled, and will close at 5 p.m. on the 12th April, fourteen days prior to the election.

In regard to eligibility lo vole, me Act states that any person who is a resident ol a borough and over the age oi 21 years, shall he entitled to vole, provided he has been a resident within the borough for three months prior lo the election, and has completed twelve months residence ui New Zealand. No person, however, who has not been enrolled by a p.m. off April 12 will he untitled to vole. The election, which is lixed by Statute for the lasi Wednesday in April, will this year be held a day later on account of Anzac Day falling on the Wednesday, a special amendment to the Act having been made to permit of this being done. . Besides the election of the new Council, three other . issues will be placed before the electors in Levin, namely, for a representative on the Foxton Harbour Board, elected from the Levin, Shannon and Otaki boroughs, (he election fur which office is held in Levin; a representative to the Palmerston North Hospital anil Charitable Aid Board- Ironi lhe same boroughs; and a representative lo the Wellingion Harbour Board. The poll will lake place at the Council Chambers on Thursday, April 26, and the new Council takes office on May 2.
