MEAT BY-PRODUCTS.

MORE EXPEDITIOUS MARKETING

WANTED

Speaking at the producers' meeting in Levin yesterday, Mr 0. P. Lynch, of Paraparaumu, stated there was a pressing necessity for better and more expeditious marketing of New Zealand by-products, such as canned meats. He said there were immense quantities of our by-products of this class lying in England awaiting a market there. Why not try other markets? lie asked. IX shipments were sent to India,, he believed ihey would sell like hot cakes, but before they could get to India under present conditions they would have to pass through half a dozen different hands, and when they reached their destination would be almost prohibitive in price. There were a hundred other things in which the New Zealand producer was being exploited in the same way. He had heard that Italy would prove a good ! market for New Zealand lamb. It was | a point that might be looked into. Later in the meeting, Mr W. H. Field, M.IV, touched on the point raised by Mr Lynch with reference to canned meats, and said it would be one of the things that would be looked into as a result of the meat pool proposal.
