Social at Ihakara.

The Livin Ladies’ Croquet Club held a very successful social and dance n tho Ihakara Hull on Wednesday night in aid of the club’s funds. A representaiive gathering was present, and a most enjoyable' evening was spent, Mr H. Cottle acted as M.C. for the dance, # and 'performed: his duties efficiently. The supper arrangements were in the capable bands of Mrs Reading and Mrs Pink, assisted hy Misses Reading and. Pink. Miss Reading supplied) >he music for tlu> dance, and extras wore played hy Mrs Cottle and Miss Pink. R-uring the evening Miss Reading and Miss Lk Broadbelt entertained the company with a pianoforte duet, 'which was well received.

Mr .Broadbelt', on behalf of the Ladies’ Croquet Club, thanked) the audience for their attendance and apologised for the absence of Mr Ala theson, Mayor of Levin, who was to have been pn-sent, but was called away on business; also lor the absence of Mrs ft Hall, president of tho club, who was unavoidably unable to attend through illness. The Croquet Club °x tended a hearty invitation to the, .Ihakara ladies to visit Iho lawn when in Levin.

Everyone present enjoyed thorn selves to tho full, and the evening was declared a success financially and socially, and added considerably to the club s fundiH. It is promised to hold another social in the near future.
