The sub-committee set up by the l'.>ard ol' Trade to deal with the distribution "of petrol in Wellington, .lawke's Bay, Tarauaki, Marlborough, Nelson and Westland provinces mot 011 March !>. and made allocations of patrol in rcrtpon.se to all applications so far received for supplies for essential purposes. /I'he committee advise that all users of petrol .who require supplies l'or essential purposes should majvo application on official ■inrins to their usual source' of supply. 1. onsuinurs are warned that duplication of orders , through different sources "ill lie detected, as all orders pass under the notice of the PetroT .:minittee, and offenders will have supplies cut off. Distributors of 100 cases or more a month are required to lurnish 'weekly lists containing names of those to whom petrol has been supplied, and quantities of further orders will not be filled unless these returns are (sent in promptly. The committee anticipates no difficulty In authorising supplies for all essential users until the position is again normal. ,

They pointed out that in 1915 there were 2,500,000 automobiles in the United State's, and; the crude oil production of 281 million barrels cost 08 * cents a barrel, while there were 7,400,000 automobiles in 1919, and the crude oil production of 370 million barrels cost 225 cents a barrel.
