Influenza Nurses.
POOR ALS'IIM.IAX RECEPTION. AA'hen the influenza epidemic was at its worst in Melbourne, the_ New Zealand Health Department was asked by the Comonwealtli authorities if it could spare some New Zealand nurses who had experience in connection with the disease. Twenty-five certificated nurses were .sent to Australia, but from letters they -havo written to friends in the Dominion it seems that their reception was not what might have been expected, in view of the important service they were prepared to render to the community.' They received no welcome, it is reported, and thev were in many caves given subordinate duties, which gave them the impression that in the hispital.s there was a feeling that they weie not wanted. Something about these grievances came to the . ars ol the Hon. G. Y\ Russell (Minister ot Public Health), for lie informed the Auckland Star corresmatter. that he believed there had been (-"me tro'iiblo over the lack of welcome to the New Zealand nurses, but the latest reports showed that the causes of trouble had been removed.
