Growing Enemy Confusion.

PRISONERS NOW OYER 20,000. Received tliis clay, 12.55 p.m. London, August 9. The United Press states: The advance continues amid growing' enemy confusion. British carvalry have taken further villages and the troops are approaching Chaulnes. The prisoners are now probably over 20,000. The British were unable to retain the summit of Chipilly and fighting there continues. Heavy progress has been made elsewhere unhampered. Franco-British cavalry are cuttinsl up the retreating columns. The bridges at Peronne and Brie have been destroyed.

CHIPILLY RETAKEN. Received tliis day at noon. New York,' August 9. The Germans recaptured Chipilly by a strong counter attack.
