Levin Gas Works

At Leviin .Borough Council meeting on Monday evening last, The gasworks manager (Mr. A. Burrell submit.ed the following report on last month's working of tihe corporation gasworks:— "During the .month, matteijs connected to .the department show a very satisfactory (position. The output of gas for tihe period constitutes a record dor Levin, A fair 'amount: of gasfitting has been done, including | the installation of a bath heater, gae fire and cooker. We have also another, gas engine a>dded to the list; navnely, the picture rtlheatre. The centro Street pedestal at Weraroa, has been removed ajnd the Bide lanterns will be effected immediattaly. We 1 have completed the erection of the -square lanterns in plaice of the smaller ones on the outskirts, I now have three new buildings awaiting a gas supply and the work will he pushed along as soooi a|? possible. The carbonising plaint its keeping in good order, and is giving very good results. Coke is in good demand and nice'.s with ready sale as : : oon as manufactured." The table attached to the report showed that a total of 650,500 feert of gas wasl munuf.nctuired during the month. The output under all heads was 645,500 feet. The report was favorably commented upon, and adopted.
