Mrs Goldstein heard revolver shots in a lower room and after investigation founu her husband shot dead and a grown up son seriously wounded. The rerolver with three chambers discharged was lying between the bodies. The son was taken to the hospital, but has not regained consciousness. The cause of the tragedy is unknown. The father and son had a disagreement recently and the supposition is they renewed tha quarrel. (Received This Day 10.10 a.m.) Sydney, This Day. There are indications that Goldstein shot his son while asleep, and next turned the revolver on himself. The son's condition is so low that he is wnablu to explain how the tragedy was led up to. FIRES. A fire in Wilmot street destroyed a large five-roomed building occupied by Johnson, (manufacturing engineer), and Lyons and Co. (mantle manufacturers) and damaged the adjoining buildings. The damage done is set down at ±'20,000. Another outbreak, at Maintain, consumed the Premier Pigment Company's factory, John Sauds's paper mill, and the Pettit Manufacturing Co.'s store. The damage is roughlv estimated at £40,000.

Joseph Brown, employed by the llawke's JJay Motor Company, was killen at lluakituri Valhiy through falling over a precipice into the river a drop of thirty feet. Brown was conveying passengers to a station in the valley, and the road was found to be impossable. He took the horses out of the buggy and drove I lie horses, bill was bumped over ihe elifV. Tolaga Bay Town Hall was destroyed by fire on Saturday night. A drapery sale had been held in it during the evening. Tt.is supposed thai some inflammable dress materials became ignited. Clark and Fallan, drapers, estimate iheir loss at £700. The insurances are not available.
