THE LOCAL TIME-TABLE. Searching through a railway time table makes most people irritable. The railway time-table, like th* polony, contains many good things, but tlie pubfic prefer to have the one particular food (whether mental or alimentary) desired on a given occasion, not a hotchpotch of figures con corn ing the branch line of Toko, the side track of Waggon villo, or the cross line to Nerermarch. As previously mentioned there are several wayside stations at which one or more of tho above trains will stop whenever passengers desire to bo set down or taken up. Local residents may aecertain which are tho trains which cater for their towns, and may then work out from the above figures, the time which tho train will take to trivel from the station immediately preceding. Tho Auckland express roaches Palmerston, from tho North, at 12.40 p. in., and arrives at Thonidon at 4.7 p.m. The Auckland oxproßs leaves Thorndon at 12.15 p.m. and reaches Palmerston at 3.35 p m.
