A seventy-foot whale was stranded live miles north of Barry town yesterday. BONER'S DEATH. A. M. Furness, aged 18, was, together with several other youths, engaged in boxing yesterday, preparatory to a boxing tourney, when he said ho felt tired. He died a few minutes later. THE PIONEER. NAPIER, This Day. Owing to an outbreak of German measles amongst the crew, the Pioneer cut its visit to Napier short and leit to-day for Lyttelton, where she gees into quarantine. HEAVY SNOWFALL. The hardest frost of the season was experienced last night. There has been a heavy snowfall in the back country. OLD SETTLER'S DEATH. WOODVILLE, This Day. Joseph Drinkwatcr, a very old resident of Woodville, died with painful suddenness on Saturday evening at 9.30. He bad been working all Saturday and was in his usual state of health. After supper he retired and fifteen minutes later gave a gas]) and was found to he dead. No inquest will be held as the doctor liars certified that death was due to heart disease. The deceased was 74 years of ago, and was one"of the original Woodville small farm settlers, coining to the district about .years ago. NEGLIGENT DRIVER FINED.
