Sir, —\Ye are glad to see that the footpath on the east side of Oxford street, between the Byko corner and the Chronicle Office, is being asphalted. Those of us who live at the north end of this street now hopo to iiud the council employees "working their way towards us—not to asphalt the side path, but to put it in going order. We feel sure that the Borough Council, which is looked upon as an honourable body of men, will now sec that the promise made so long ago to have this work done, will be performed. The weather is favourable, and tho benefits to the street will be so appreciated that no further delay will be tolerated by the council, unless a strike occurs amongst its employees. We are all delighted with the beginning made at the town end and are in "high jinks " over the probability of our end being given a respectable appearance.—Yours, etc., OXON.
