EVENTS IN SHANNON. (Reported by "The Chronicle's" I!osidelit Representative.) The annual general meeting of the Shannon Bowling Club was held on Friday night. It was well attended, nearly all the members being present. Mr T. Bind occupied the chair. The outgoing Green Committee roportcl that the green had been top-dmsed, and was loking in osplendid condition for tlio coming season. Mie treasurer reported that all 1' "bilfit had been discharged and, that Micr remained a balance of C 2, wni 1 was considered, very satisfactory Two new members were elected, aiu it was decided to admit la dies as members of the club. A -special meeting to make arrangements foi the opening is to be called on the 21st inst. The election of officers was th'en proceeded with, which resulted as follows President, Mr G N. Stephenson; vice-president, Mr T. C. Dunckley: secretary, Mi W. IT. Gunning (re-elected); treasurer, Mr J. B. Esson (re-elected); general coniinittee, Messrs Dunckley, G. N. Stephenson, Knowles, T. Liiul, .T. R. Fsson, \Y. 11. Gunning and E. B. Stephenson; match committee, Messrs .. . IT. Guiiining, J. Roach and T. Bind; refreshment committee, Messrs -I. R. .Esson, J. Roach and T. C. Dunckley. Mr T. Lind was appointed superintendent of the green instead of electing a green committee, _as previously. Mr *>. TI. Gunning was appointed delegate to attend the bowling centre. The superintendent was authorised to secure Mr J. Oleson's services as caretaker of the green for Live coming season. The Rev. Dr. Gibb. of Wellington, will lecture here on the 12th inst., on " The Dominion and the (Mother Land; Impressions and comparisons."
