FIGHTING AT MADRID Rebel Attacks Repulsed by Loyalists PLANES BOMB PALMA (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Received 13, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 12. A message from Madrid saysffnt, a big artillery duel began this porning and continued throughout the day. Rebel attacks on the Toledo bridge ■were repulsed, and 10 Government planes bombed Palma. Subjected to a more intensified bombing and shelling, Madrid now faces destruction. According to General Franco, “The bombardment will continue until Madrid surrenders. The city jrill have to be destroyed district by district no matter how much I regret it. Unexpected and infuriated resistance forces me to this course.” , Early this morning fires were raging in the centre of the capital.The Paris paper “Matin” alleges that two Soviet ships are en route to Spain from Sebastopol laden with tanks, planes, ammunition and modern plant for manufacturing poison gas. Also aboard are a number of Russian chemical engineers and ata. airman.
A SECRET MISSION Major Ramon Franco pn Way to Rome (Received 13, 11.30 a.m.) NAPLES, Nov. 12. Major Roman Franco, brother of the rebel leader, arrived and is proceeding to Rome on a secret mission.
