TESTING FLEECES

Hairiness in Wool MASSEY COLLEGE WORK k (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Nov. 12. Work valued at £l2OO in testing sheep fleeces and investigating hairiness in wool has been carried out during the past two years by officers of Massey Agricultural College. The activities covered an area extending from 100 miles north of Gisborne down to the Bluff. This is the only organisation of its kind in the world, and Australia is contemplating the establishment of a similar service in the near future. Last July a team of Massey College workers went to the South Island and collected 1500 fleece samples from sheep. Mr P. Waters, of the wool research department of the college, is leaving for the South Island where he will be engaged for three weeks in fleece-testing operations.
