AID FOR FRUITGROWERS
Urgent Need Appreciated By Government PROCEDURE BEING DECIDED Following the fruitgrowers’ meeting in Hastings on Monday evening, Messrs. E. L. Cullen, H. M. Christie and W. E. Barnard conferred regarding proposals to be made to the Government, and Mr. Cullen proceeded to Wellington the next day to see the Government regarding, these proposals, while Mr. Christie and Mr. Barnard sent telegrams in support. Mr. Barnard has received a reply from the Minister of Agriculture, stating that the urgent need of assistance is appreciated. The procedure decided upon will be made known as soon as possible, and that Mr. Barnard’s suggestions as to methods of assisting the fruit-growers are substantially what the Minister and his department are now considering.
