YOUNG ATHLETE
Ray Fox’s Success An excellent athletic performance was put up by Ray Fox, the fifteen-year-old son of Mr Tom Fox, of Hastings, in the recent school sports held at Silverstream College, Wellington. Ray Fox, who was a pupil at the Hastings Convent, won the intermediate athletic championship, and equalled the school record in the 100 yards intermediate championship. At the annual athletic contest between St. Patrick’s and Silverstream, Ray Fox also was most successful, setting up a record in the intermediate 220 yards. The events which he won at the sports were as follows: —100 yards intermediate championship (time llsecs, equal to record); 440 yards intermediate championship (time, 57 l-ssees); intermediate shot put (32ft. 6ins); 220 yadrs intermediate championship (time, 24 2-osccs); 120 yards intermediate hurdles (time 18sees). At the inter-collegiate sports he won the 220 yards intermediate (time, 24 4-ssees); 100 yards intermediate (time, 10 3-ssecs); 120 yards intermediate hurdles (time, 18 l-ssecs). He also won the light-heavyweight boxing championship.
