PUBLIC ORDER
Law Against Uniforms PENALTIES FOR BREACHES LONDON, Nov. 11. Penalties ranging from a fine of £lOO or six months’ imprisonment, or both, to a fine of £5OO or two years’ imprisonment, or both, are provided in the Public Order Bill for anyone found guilty, of wearing in a public place or at a meeting uniforms signifying an association of any political organisation or with' the promotion of any political object; also for anyone guilty of controlling an association organised to usurp the authority of the Crown or promote any. political object by display of force. Other clauses empower the police or councils to ban processions and investigate associations. It is left to the Courts to define the meaning of the word “uniforms.” The Bill applies to Scotland, but not to (Northern Ireland. It is hoped that it will be law before Christmas.
