Cr. Tennent and Cr. Hodgens (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Oct. 6. A statement has been made by Councillor W. B. Tennent that it is not his intention to proceed further’ with any contemplated proceedings which he announced at a recent meeting of the City Council, he was issuing against Councillor J. Hodgens, M.P., in consequence of a reference to Air. Tennent contained in a telegram which Air. Hodgens forwarded to the council three weeks ago. Air. Tennent to-day said that though ho considered the proper place for Air. Hudgens to make a withdrawal of the statement was the council table, he understood from people who attended a public meeting in tho Opera House on September 19 that Air. Hodgens there made the necessary withdrawal. Air. Tennent now regarded the matter as closed.
