FAREWELL TO NAPIER BIBLE CLASS MEMBER

Wesley Hall, McGrath street, Napier, was the scene of a very enjoyable social evening on Wednesday night last, when the Methodist Bible classes tendered a farewell evening to a popular member, Sir Edgar A. Blundell, who is leaving to take up a position in Wellington.

The evening passed all too quickly with jolly games and competitions, with Sir Wes. Everett as a very capable SI.C. Items were also contributed as follow: Pianoforte' solos: Mr Neville Orringe; recitations: Miss Dorothy Bradley.

On behalf of the Bible class members, the Rev. H. J. Odell spoke a few words of farewell to Sir Blundell, who has been a very keen Bible class worker, and Mr Bob. Galbreath also spoke on behalf of the Mission Band, of which Mr Blundell was a member. Mr Odell then presented Mr Blundell with three volumes as a token of esteem from his Bible class friends. Sir Blundell suitably replied and expressed the hope that he would be able to return in the not too distant future to visit his home town and numerous friends.

A very dainty supper was served by the ladies under the supervision of the Slisses Margaret Pottle and Dorothy Bradley, and tho singing of the Bible class and Napier camp choruses brought a very pleasant evening to a close. Those present were: Misses Margaret and Ellen Pottle, Nita, Bill and Zoe Glover, Dorothy and Marjorie Bradley, Sybil and Ailsa Robinson, Wyn t'hellew, Jessie Wells, Pat Austen, Hermione Mollring, Joyce Willis, Dilys Jones, Jean Berry, Chrissie Lydford, Beryl Vann, Leslie Hilton, Jean Edmundson and Pauline Ashton. The Rev. H. J. Odell, Messrs Edgar Blundell, Wes. Everett, Gordon Symes, E. and Neville Orringe, J. Jones, Rob. Galbreath, Bob and Glynne Jones, Bob and Rod. Rowe, Bob Kite; John Stitson, Stan. Richards, Tom Whitton, Jack Olsen, Frank Berry, Darcy Baker, Herbert Longbottom, Selwyn Hunt, Jack McCarthy and Lauric Marsden.
