H.B. BOARD’S POLICY

“I see no reason to alter my views on this question. Where their huebands are financially able to maintain them they should make way to enable others to enter the profession,’' eaid Mr G. A. Maddison, chairman, whan referring to the matter of married women teachers at to-day’s meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board. “I think that the board should keep to ite present policy,” he added. These remarks arose following an inquiry from the Department as to what action the board waa now taking in view of the changed circumstances. Mr W. Cuthbertson agreed that tie board had adopted a wise policy and it was decided to advise the department that the, board wee employing married women teachers only in relieving positions.
