FOXTON MEETING

Prospects for To-morrow

(By “The Barb.’’)

The spring meeting of the above club will be held to-morrow, when the fields are of satisfactory dimensions, it may be remembered that this time last year this club received such a poor response at nomination time that the meeting was cancelled. Local stables will be represented by Red Rufus, Royal Bengal and First Chapter.

TRIAL STAKES. Of £6O; 6 furlongs.

A very motley lot with little interest taken outside the course. The favourite may come from Mirth, The Pawnbroker and Lian e .

PAIAKI HURDLES. Of £100; 1 mile 5 furlongs.

Royal King was in the money at Wanganui the first day. Red Rufus is fighting lit but as yet lacks confidence iu his jumping. Court Arma won at Wanganui the first day but was a little lucky in doing so, with the best falling. Bazaine, a full brother to Jouinet, is said to be a brilliant fencer. Limulus was fast ou the flat. The 9.0 division hardly appeal. The betting may favour Bazaine, Court Arma and Royal King.

MOTUITI HACK HANDICAP. Of £80; 6 furlongs.

Not a very formidable lot. Perhaps the favourite will come from I'lnnCsko, Lord. MOutoa and Windward.

CARNARVON GOLD CLP. Of £175; 1-f mile.

A, disappointing field after Hie fine nominations received. Dungan an is on the eve of winning another race, at least his second in the sprint at Wanganui points that way. West Tor was running well at Wanganui last Saturday when he toppled over the fallen Spiral. Fersen won at New Plymouth but was well and truly beaten in his only start at Wanganui. Rape: may surprise. Suuee is an “iffer.” Hunting Queen is also engaged in the hack cup and will be a consideration in whatever she contests. The betting order may read Dungarvan, Fersen and West Tor. HACK AND HUNTERS’ STEEPLECHASE. Of £B5; 24 miles. Invictus has not been on the winning list for some time, while Stroller has won in his last two starts. Kaola is a clever little jumper and Taura Lad is also a. good fencer. Morrath is reported to be jumping Ihc country in unpret-

give style. Hymgreat and Nightrunner may do the best of the light-weights. Most money may be on Stroller, Kaola and Invictus.

AWAHAU HACK CUP. Of £BO and cup valued £l5; 9 furlongs,

Hunting Maid finished fast dose up to the placed horses last Saturday wheu Wotan won. Taumau is handy over this distance but has stayed a long time in hack class. Warelii is useful. Airing won at New Plymouth. Huaform and Cloudy Bay were both third at Wanganui. Of the light-weights Otaki (a N.Z. Cup entrant) and Siegmund muy do best. What will carry more money than Warelii, HuuUng Maid and Siegmund?

ROBINSON HANDICAP. Of £100; 7 furlongs.

Hazoor is sure to be in need of a race. Gay Boy is a winner very shortly, judging by lus finishing run last Saturday. Full Throttle was in a minor place each day at Wanganui. Jubilee Song goes a good seven. Bodyline is not long iu after a spell but on winter form is well treated with 8.3. Royal Bengal might upset the pot. Three not likely to be neglected by speculators are Gay Boy, Full Throttle and Jubilee Song.

MOUTOA HACK HANDICAP. Of £75; 5J furlongs.

First Chapter is very forward. Rustem was promising last year. Others who have shown speed are Princess La Jean, Airing and Nightlass. Recovery may bo looked to from First Chapter, Princess La J e an and Airing.
