That portion of the Newton Papers recently sold at Sotheby’s, which deal with his work as Warden and subsequently Master of tho Royal Mint, have been purchased by Lord Wakefield and presented -to the Mint. This generous gift was facilitated by the publicspirited action of Mr Gabriel Wells, who made the actual purchase at the sale for £l4OO, in placing the papers at Lord Wakefield’s disposal at cost on the understanding that they would bo presented to the nation.
