SMUGGLING GOES ON
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright LONDON, Sept. 7. The “Daily Herald’s” Oran correspondent says: “A Fascist reign of terror with daily shooting and tortures has been established in Spanish Morocco. It is openly admitted at Tetuan that 30 or 40 are shot daily by the.rebel commander’s orders for failure to assist their cause. “Eye witnesses described how officers shot a widow who was driven frantic when a firing squad executed her loyalist husband.
"Hundreds were forced to witness the execution of a leading Ceuta citizen. The Jewish colony has been robbed of hundreds of thousands of pounds. Prisoners are forcibly interned in concentration camps.” The "Daily Herald’s” Tangier correspondent asserts that huge supplies of petrol and provisions are nSjßitly smuggled to the Spanish rebels from the neutral, denationalised Tangier zone, where all frontier posts are under Italian supervision.
