No Independent Action By New Zealand
PREMIER’S STATEMENT
By Telegraph—Press Association.
WELLINGTON, July 17.
No independent action is likely to ho taken by New Zealand regarding any question of territorial compensation to Germany for her lost colonies, according to a statement made in an interview to-day by tho Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage. The matter arose when the Prime Alinister w r as asked to comment on the recent statement made by tho Hon. O. O. Pirow, Minister of Defence in South African Government.
“This matter is not one for independent action as far as New Zealand is concerned,” Mr Savage said. “1 do not see how there can be anv question of tho return of mandated territories which formerly were under German rule until there has been an opportunity for full discussion between all the Goverumeuls of the British Empire. New Zealand would naturally want to know the views of Great Britain and the otliei Dominions before deciding on any course of action.”
