COSY THEATRE
"MARY BURNS, FUGITIVE" “Mary Burns, Fugitive,” now at the Cosy, traces the tragic experiences of a girl caught by the law through an innocent friendship with a man she did not know was a public enemy. Convicted, she gets a prison sentence, but breaks gaol, a girl fugitive hunted by the law. She falls in love with a scientist, but her former sweetheart gangster pursues her relentlessly. A series of dramatic episodes follows the girl until a thrilling climax brings the picture to an exciting finale. Sylvia Sydney, Melvyn Douglas, Alan Baxter, Pert Kelton, Wallace Ford and Brian Donlevy are in the cast.
STATE THEATRE
"SHOW THEM NO MERCY” In“ Show Them No Mercy 1” the 20th. Century thriller showing tonight at the State Theatre, Darryl F. Zanuck has managed to catch a new slant on pictures which deal with the war against crime Violence, emotional drama, spontaneous humour and romance are tightly packed in the speedy sequences of this picture which reveals tho underworld terror in America’s tight to wipe it out. The plot of “Show Them No Mercy I” carries Rochelle Hudson and Edward Norris, two innocent young people with their baby, into the hideout of the gang.
REGENT THEATRE
"PUBLIC NUISANCE No. 1” Frances Day, one of Britain’s most famous cabaret singers, has the lead-
ing parr in "Public Nuisance No. 1”, now at the Regent Theatre, Aitbui Riscoe supports her in the comedj. The play is practically without plot, but is crammed full of irresponsible foolery of the type that these two stars have made so popular on the British stage. Clowning, dancing and singing follow each otner in a .ad whirl. The plot, such as it is, revolves around a girl who helps her lover to empty a rival hotel and bring all the customers to his own. Among the supporting, artists is Claude Dampier whom Hastings audiences will remember from some years ago Saturday’s attraction will be “Mutiny on the Bounty,’’ starring Clark Gable, Charles I.augtiton and Franchot Tone. It is a stirring tale based on the experiences of the mutineers who finally set up a colony on Pitcairn Island.
